Interior Offensive Line: Jeremiah Poutasi (LG)
Jeremiah Poutasi is one of about 100 former Utah Utes on the Broncos’ roster currently.
Okay, not quite that many, but after watching him play some left tackle for the Utes on his 2014 tape, I started noticing all of these other players who are now with the Broncos — fellow interior line gem J.J. Dielman (a player the Broncos really like), Tim Patrick (a receiver), and of course, projected starting running back Devontae Booker along with Poutasi.
Poutasi was a third round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the same year the Broncos selected Ty Sambrailo and Max Garcia.
Now, at the age of 23, Poutasi has a chance to prove to the Broncos’ coaching staff that he’s ready to come into his own as a player.
It didn’t work out for Poutasi with the Titans or at his other stops in the league, but the Broncos’ hiring of Sean Kugler for the interior line gives me hope that things can click for this young man, who is still the age of many rookies.
Think about the fact that Poutasi was two years ahead of Garett Bolles, the Broncos’ starting left tackle, who is now entering his age 26 season and just completed his first year in the league.
Poutasi has plenty of room to grow yet, and showed traits on tape that lead be to believe he could be a gem for the Broncos at left guard.
