Defensive Back: Michael Hunter (CB)

Before anyone asks in the comments — yes, I did pass on identifying a linebacker for this exercise. The Broncos have so many free agents at linebacker and even with guys like Joseph Jones and Jerrol Garcia-Williams coming back as ERFAs, I didn’t feel like either of them showed enough last year though the Broncos are obviously high on them.

Instead, I’m moving on to the defensive backfield, where I think midseason practice squad pickup Michael Hunter could be a player the Broncos really like.

In training camp with the Giants in 2017, Hunter was taking first-team reps when the Giants suffered injuries. The Broncos added a couple of Giants players after their meeting earlier in the season, and Hunter has arguably the best potential.

This is a player that the Broncos had to promote off of the practice squad late in the season to prevent other teams from signing him.

I think he has the potential to compete for one of the top four or five cornerback spots.
