Peter King guesses Kirk Cousins will end up with Denver Broncos
Peter King of the MMQB gives his best guess as to where Kirk Cousins will land in NFL Free Agency, and Denver Broncos fans will like what he had to say…
Peter King of the MMQB put out a big post on Monday with his best ‘guesses’ of which quarterbacks will land where as the NFL offseason is about to get underway next month.
For the Denver Broncos, King predicted the signing of Kirk Cousins, and while he did call it a guess, King is one of the more plugged in guys in the league. It could mean nothing, or it could be significant.
He thinks, at the very least, John Elway will try to sign Cousins. We’ve been saying that for weeks. The reasons for Elway wanting to sign a player like Cousins make sense. Elway just tried going the NFL Draft route to get his quarterback of the future, and it didn’t work out.
That’s not to say it could never work, but it’s likely Elway prefers a proven option with seasoning versus another unproven player at the position.
One interesting tidbit from King’s piece didn’t seem to be any sort of ‘guess’ at all. He went on to list what Cousins is looking for in his new team, and the description seemed to fit the Broncos quite well.
"Cousins isn’t flawless, but he’s got seven or eight prime years left (he’s 29), and has put a premium on going somewhere he can win, somewhere with a good defense, and somewhere he can walk into the building every day excited about going to work.Peter King"

That description could also fit a number of other teams that are likely to pursue Cousins this offseason. A couple that come to mind are the Jaguars and Vikings.
The Broncos certainly aren’t the only team that presents an attractive option to Cousins, but the fact that they’ve won a championship within the last three seasons could mean something. There are players from that team entering the prime of their careers just like Cousins who could compete for a title together.
We know the Broncos are going to show some interest in Cousins. It all now depends on how far they are willing to go as far as an offer and what else they can do to sell Cousins on the future of the team.
John Elway has done it in the past. Can he pull it off again?
