Fourth Round (pick 1/2): Nathan Shepherd, DL, Fort Hays State

Another player that was turning heads at the Senior Bowl is Fort Hays State’s Nathan Shepherd, who dominated one-on-one drills.

Shepherd was unblockable in almost every drill, as a matter of fact, and before breaking his hand, he looked like one of the biggest draft risers at the entire event.

At nearly 6-foot-5, 300 pounds, Shepherd has an NFL build already and room to grow, both in terms of his size and technique.

I think this is a player that could play inside-out in any scheme and succeed. He’s so strong-handed and quick off the ball, and plays with good enough leverage that his 6-5 frame doesn’t appear to be a liability in run situations.

With a good defensive line coach like Bill Kollar, this is a player that could excel quickly.
