Second Round: Leighton Vander Esch, LB, Boise State

As has been common in John Elway draft classes, if the Broncos go one side of the ball in the first round, they’ll switch it up and go the other side of the ball with their next pick.

Trends are made to be broken, certainly, but the Broncos have a need at the inside linebacker position next to Brandon Marshall, and Vander Esch could help fill it.

Vander Esch does a great job of reading the play and attacking the football with great angles and quickness.

Most impressive about Vander Esch is his ability to play sideline to sideline at his size and frame (6-foot-4, 240 pounds) and he would undoubtedly start for the Broncos year one.

This guy has potential to be a star at the linebacker position.
