First Round: Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame

For my money, there’s no better player the Broncos could pick at number five overall than Quenton Nelson.

Saquon Barkley is more exciting, perhaps. A quarterback would be a much more glamorous pick (and more of a necessity if the Broncos don’t get Cousins).

But when you watch Nelson play, it’s easy to see why he’s such a coveted player in this draft class.

For the Broncos, Nelson would obviously fill an immediate need at the left guard position, and would solidify the Broncos’ interior offensive line with Matt Paradis likely coming back on the RFA tender price.

Nelson, Paradis, and Ron Leary on the interior for the Broncos would be a great way to support Kirk Cousins, and then you’d obviously have Garett Bolles out at left tackle. This move would also make Bolles that much better and give him some help to the inside.

Watch Nelson play and try and convince yourself the Broncos don’t need that at the left guard position. This guy is phenomenal.
