If there’s an area Denver Broncos executive John Elway loves to target, it is versatility and one player in particular fits that need like a glove.

The Denver Broncos know all too well of a versatile offensive weapon playing tight end, fullback and running back. Jaylen Samuels of NC State Wolfpack gives them one player to cover two positions. Samuels compares favorably to Marcel Reece. Although, Samuels might be more explosive of a runner than Reece.

Broncos are familiar with Reece’s talents since he played the majority of his career with the Oakland Raiders. Reece is also known as a Broncos killer coming up in big moments on Sunday’s. The Broncos might see the same traits in Samuels.

There’s plenty to love about Samuels and the impact on a football field. He has bounce, strength, vision and quickness to be the ultimate “Swiss Army knife” on the Broncos. The best way to describe other than the last sentence is dynamic. Samuels might factor as a starting running back for the Denver Broncos also.

Devontae Booker has not taken a stranglehold of the starting job like some thought. CJ Anderson seems like he’s out the door. Jamaal Charles was treated unfairly and won’t send the Denver Broncos a thank you card either as a free agent. This leaves Booker and De’Angelo Henderson as only running backs on the roster.

Samuels might even play day one as a newcomer. As a freshmen at NC State, he posted one of the best yards per rush (9.5) than any player on the roster and yards per reception (16.0).

If he contributes as a running back and only a running back one player he compares well to is Frank Gore. One of the strongest attributes with Samuels is durability. This ultimately is why Marcel Reece and Frank Gore are good comparisons.

Next: Broncos Should Keep an Eye on Braxton Berrios

They certainly seem lofty as a player projection, but Samuels makes a case as a solid day two prospect. Samuels would cover two problems in one and become an instant fan favorite if he contributes right away. If it was me, Samuels should be very very high on the list for the Denver Broncos.

If there are still questions about Jaylen Samuels, then sometimes it is better to have highlights tell the story for 5’11 228 pounds.
