A.J. McCarron, Cincinnati Bengals

A.J. McCarron is set to become this year’s version of Brock Osweiler or Mike Glennon.

I don’t know if he will end up being a terrible investment like both of those guys were for their respective teams, but in terms of how much he’s played and how much money he’s going to make, these three are comparable in my opinion.

McCarron will likely command somewhere north of $17 million per season, so he would be a pretty sizeable investment for a team like the Broncos specifically, but there are a few reasons I like him more than guys like Osweiler or Glennon.

First and foremost, McCarron has completed passes at a higher clip than either of those two players. He completed 66.4 percent of his passes in three starts in 2015, including a very solid performance against the champion Denver Broncos.

McCarron also has been a winner everywhere he’s been a starter. Even with the Bengals, who are married to Andy Dalton and not going to push him down the depth chart for financial reasons, McCarron was 2-1 and nearly 3-0 were it not for DeMarcus Ware’s pass rushing abilities.

If the Broncos are unable to land someone higher on their list, McCarron to me is a solid option on a similar deal to that of Mike Glennon, maybe three years worth $17 million annually with a year and a half guaranteed.
