Josh McCown, New York Jets

Josh McCown is 38 years old, but is still playing at a relatively high level and is probably one of the better short-term, bridge starter options available to the Broncos.

McCown signed a one-year, $6 million deal with the Jets last offseason, so he’s obviously also one of the least expensive options out there. Even if the Broncos were to sign him to an identical deal, this is a player that I really like as a veteran presence in the locker room, someone to bring along a young quarterback, and someone who helped the Jets win five more games than many people thought they would all year.

I don’t think McCown is the guy if the Broncos are going to pitch a championship pursuit in 2018, but if they pitch a re-load/re-build with a rookie quarterback that needs some time to develop, McCown is an okay option to me.

I’d sign McCown to a one-year deal for around $6 million, just like the Jets did, and feel really good about what that investment would do for my locker room.
