If Kirk Cousins is looking to go to an organization that will put a statue of him outside their building someday, the Denver Broncos aren’t the spot…

It seems like the recruiting pitches for Kirk Cousins are already getting out of hand.

Cousins will undoubtedly be one of the most coveted free agents on the open market this offseason, but it seems more teams are desperate than others.

I thought Von Miller’s comment about rainbows was pretty funny, but I can’t quite figure out if this idea from Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas is a joke or not…

I’ve spent plenty of time this offseason researching why Cousins is worth big time quarterback money, but not even in my wildest dreams would I think that this is going to be a guy worthy of a statue someday.

Let’s pump the brakes a little bit, there.

Of course, if Cousins were to help the Browns to a Super Bowl title, I suppose anything is on the table. Cleveland is a city that loves its sports heroes, so perhaps if we get way ahead of ourselves and assume Cousins wins a title and becomes the most beloved player in team history, you could say he would be statue-worthy.

But if a statue or even the idea of having a statue outside of a team’s building is part of what Cousins wants in his new destination, he’s going to have to play somewhere other than Denver.

The Denver Broncos are a franchise that has been very successful at the quarterback position through the years, even if the talent wasn’t necessarily drafted by the team.

Since John Elway was technically acquired in a draft day trade in 1983, the Broncos’ greatest success from the quarterback position has come almost exclusively from players who were not drafted by Denver.

Quarterbacks are revered in Denver, but you’re not going to get a statue outside the stadium.

If that’s important to Cousins, it’s probably best the Broncos consider the alternatives anyway.
