Denver Broncos: Five underrated free agent options
Jerick McKinnon, RB, Minnesota Vikings
What are the Broncos going to do this offseason at running back?
They might just skip the free agency route altogether and move C.J. Anderson, bump Devontae Booker and De’Angelo Henderson each up a spot, and draft someone to be that third back.
But last offseason, the Broncos signed Jamaal Charles and I think the intentions were on the right track. The execution of utilizing a player with Charles’ skillset was very poor.
I don’t think McKinnon matches everything Charles brings to the table, but I think he’s an underrated veteran back who is only 25 years old and could really benefit from an expanded role.
He proved last year with the Vikings he can be an asset as a receiver and a runner, and he’s got big time open-field speed.
He may be more likely to jump on board with Pat Shurmur in New York, but if the Broncos feel like they can have a true three-headed attack at running back, McKinnon is an underrated free agent option that intrigues me.
