The Denver Broncos have a lot to build on for the 2018 season. Their draft picks are going to be key, which is why trading for the first pick is unlikely.
When the draft begins at the end of April, the Denver Broncos will be sitting with the fifth overall pick. For a 5-11 season, there is going to be a lot of choices with that pick. The most logical one will be at the quarterback position. There should be no reason why the team won’t get their choice at quarterback.
There are also other options out there. Getting inside help on the offensive line is there with Quenton Nelson should be available at that spot. I believe the fifth spot in the first round can basically be pick and choose, except for the first four that will be gone.

While trading up to the number one pick would be nice, I think it could be too costly for John Elway and the Denver Broncos. Cleveland has 12 picks in this year’s draft. Trading down to No. 5 for them would not be the end of the world if they can still get the players they need.

However, I do not see Cleveland giving that pick away so easily when they have the pick of the litter. In order for the Denver Broncos to move up to the first pick, they would have to give up a lot. This would include perhaps two first round picks, two second round picks, one third round, and perhaps a player.
Denver is only a few pieces away from being able to contend again. If they really wanted to draft high, the highest point I can see is for the third pick. Elway is close, in my opinion, from getting this team back. The draft picks are going to be too valuable to only get one player in the first two or three rounds.
