Option #10: Any veteran + Josh Allen

Coming in at number 10 on my list of options is any veteran — not including Kirk Cousins, of course, plus Josh Allen.

I am not including Kirk Cousins in the ‘any veteran’ category because signing Cousins would prevent the Broncos from using a top five or 10 draft pick on a quarterback and thus, eliminate them from getting both Cousins and Allen.

What I mean by ‘any veteran’ in this case is someone like Josh McCown, Jay Cutler, Sam Bradford, Tyrod Taylor, Case Keenum, or just any bridge player in general combined with Josh Allen.

This is not my preferred option and it should be noted that in other pages in this post, when I refer to a ‘top five pick’ I’m also not including Allen in that because he’s not part of my ideal ‘top five pick’ quarterback group.

That group is limited to Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold, and Baker Mayfield though I fancy Lamar Jackson quite a bit. I don’t see him ultimately landing in that draft range.

So, to get back to it, the no. 10 option here is to get a veteran stopgap and Josh Allen. This would be an inexpensive way for the Broncos to try and fix the quarterback position. It would also be one of the riskiest, as Allen has not had good accuracy in college and could be more tools than substance at this point in time.
