Denver Broncos said to prefer Josh Rosen in 2018 NFL Draft class
The Denver Broncos are said to prefer Josh Rosen in the 2018 NFL Draft among two different sources. Will they be able to land him?
We’ve talked about a lot of different quarterbacks this offseason, but one player we haven’t dug deep into yet is UCLA’s Josh Rosen.
The main reason for that is, up to this point, the Broncos haven’t been connected much to Rosen. Perhaps that’s due to the fact that every mock draft projects Rosen to be gone before the Broncos pick, or perhaps some assume that his personality type won’t mesh well with John Elway and the others in Denver.
Who knows?
Despite all the rumors surrounding Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen, Kirk Cousins, Case Keenum, and a number of others, the Broncos’ interest in Rosen could certainly escalate in the coming months, and according to a couple of prominent sources, he’s even the team’s preferred option at this point.
Here’s a snippet from a great piece by Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports about the Broncos’ interest in Rosen:
"A league source familiar with the Broncos’ front office told Yahoo Sports that general manager John Elway and personnel rover Gary Kubiak believe that UCLA’s Rosen has the purest passing stroke in this draft. An appreciation that is said to be so strong, Rosen would be a virtual lock at the fifth overall pick if he was still on the board. Of course, it’s also January and there are other phases of assessment ahead.Charles Robinson, Yahoo! Sports"
That’s a pretty strong indicator of the Broncos’ interest right there, and then there was this from Draft Insider’s Tony Pauline in his most recent mock draft:
"Signing Kirk Cousins in free agency changes this selection (more on that Tuesday), but by all accounts that I was told at the Senior Bowl, the Broncos and Elway prefer Rosen.Tony Pauline"
Rosen is the third ranked quarterback on my overall board, but really the top three on my list (Darnold, Mayfield, Rosen) are interchangeable.

I am a huge fan of all three guys for different reasons.
Rosen, to me, is the most pro-ready player in this class. There are concerns about him in regards to his durability and yes, perhaps some personality questions that need answering, but this guy is about as refined as you could expect a college prospect to be mechanically, and he has a great arm.
There was a lot to love about Rosen’s 2017 tape, and there was nothing better this season from a quarterback than Rosen’s game against USC.
Now we have multiple reports from guys who are well connected in the league that say Rosen is the Broncos’ preferred option.
At the very least, it’s something to keep an eye on…
