The Denver Broncos’ biggest competition for Kirk Cousins
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars would probably be my favorites to land Cousins if it weren’t for their numerous public comments that they are sticking with Blake Bortles.
The Jags have the ability to get out of Bortles’ fifth-year team option, one that will cost them just under $20 million this next season.
With no permanent plan for the future and still at least some uncertainty about what Bortles is capable of doing in the future, perhaps the Jaguars could see Cousins as more of a long-term solution.
It would certainly be worth the risk in my opinion, letting go of Bortles if they can lock in Cousins. Cousins’ father has a church in Florida, so he’d be closer to family. The Jaguars have a top five defense and a lot of young pieces along with their cap space.
This seems like a very attractive option for both parties, but again, the Jags seem intent on keeping Bortles. We’ll see how much that changes in the next two months.
