Tis the season of misinformation in the NFL, but I don’t think Kirk Cousins is lying when he tells 9News’ Mike Klis that he hopes the Broncos want him…

This time of year in the NFL is the time for misinformation in the NFL, but you can’t help but hope Kirk Cousins is being genuine when he says he hopes the Denver Broncos are interested him.

Mike Klis of 9News is in Minneapolis covering the Super Bowl and of course, the Broncos, and he was able to flag down Cousins for a brief moment and a quote.

Cousins gave a quote many Broncos fans will be excited for:

"“I would hope any team is interested and would love it if Denver is interested.”Kirk Cousins to Mike Klis (9News)"

I think that very clearly, from everything we’re hearing, the Broncos are among the top two teams most interested in the services of Cousins. The situations that interest Cousins? That’s a different story entirely.

I would love to know more about what Cousins is thinking, but of course, that would completely ruin any leverage he has on the open market, so he’s going to give politically correct answers to every single question.

It’s all part of the mind game.

Had Cousins been asked what he thought about signing in New York or Jacksonville or even Minnesota, he probably would have said the same thing.

This is a good thing to know, though, that at least Cousins wants the Broncos to be interested. It shows that he has some form of interest in the Broncos and we know the Broncos have interest in him as well.

The main motivation for going after Cousins rather than simply looking to the 2018 NFL Draft is that Cousins is already an established player in this league, and he’s not so old he wouldn’t be able to play a second contract in Denver if things ultimately worked out.

He may be six or seven years older than some of the top guys coming into the draft, but there’s an element of certainty with him under center and the veteran players on this Denver team have not been shy about expressing their desire to get him.

Now, we just need to wait another month or so to find out if that feeling is mutual on Cousins’ end.
