Options At Cornerback If Aqib Talib Isn’t A Bronco In 2018
By Cody Roark
With trade talk circulating, we have to analyze some options the Denver Broncos could pursue if Aqib Talib is no longer a Bronco in 2018…
Over the last couple of weeks, trade talk has circulated regarding Aqib Talib. Losing Aqib Talib to trade or by releasing him would be detrimental to the Broncos in 2018.
However, Broncos Country must face the realization that the scenario itself is possible.
Talib brings swagger, energy, and enthusiasm to the Broncos defense and secondary. Folks on Twitter bring up that the Broncos have Bradley Roby to replace Talib.
Let’s revisit that theory. Both Roby and Talib cover the opposing offense’s outside receivers while Chris Harris Jr. locks up the slot wide-outs.
I spent time on my show Locked On Broncos talking about how detrimental the move would be. We’ve all witnessed what the Broncos look like defensively minus Talib.
It goes back to Oakland where Talib was ejected. Rookie CB Brendan Langley was thrown into the fire against Veteran WR Amari Cooper.
Cooper torched Langley in the Raiders 21-14 victory over the Broncos. The secondary struggled the following week against the Dolphins in Denver’s blowout loss.
I firmly believe the Broncos would feel the impact of Talib’s absence, but we must analyze options that could help if the two part ways.
