Wasted Year Options

More from Predominantly Orange

I’m really sorry to have to be so blunt as to put it this way, but any option for the Broncos that is a ‘wasted year option’ I’m not interested in in the least.

When I think of the options in this category, I think of players like Josh McCown, Trevor Siemian, Chase Daniel, Ryan Fitzpatrick — basically anyone who is just barely good enough to be a starter in the NFL right now but isn’t taking your team anywhere.

I’m not interested in spending another year with a quarterback developing on the bench unless the Broncos are winning a lot of games in the meantime.

The Broncos can do one of two things in my eyes — they can win games with a bridge guy or big money free agent, all the while developing someone as appropriate, or they can lose games while watching a young player get better week in and week out on the field.

I’m not interested in being mediocre, and I’m certainly not interested in signing someone who is going to barely get us by or make this team worse.
