Broncos Free Agency: Trey Burton Could Be A Name to Watch
By Tylor Walden
The Denver Broncos are going to need some help at the tight end position. Could Philadelphia Eagles’ Trey Burton be a name to watch?
Back on November 5th, 2017, Trey Burton caught an amazing pass from Carson Wentz against the Denver Broncos. Burton’s touchdown reception made it 24-6. The rout was on.
Now the Philadelphia Eagles are headed to the Super Bowl, where they hope to dethrone the defending champion New England Patriots. When it comes to free agency, the Eagles do not have a lot of players that will be leaving.
Trey Burton is one name that the Denver Broncos could look at from the NFC Champions. Virgil Green could be out the door this offseason. I have not seen enough from Jeff Heuerman to consider having him as an option. Jake Butt will make his NFL debut in 2018. Denver needs a second tight end.
Trey Burton could play a big part in the Denver Broncos offense if the team decides to bring him on board. His stats might not scream “big time playmaker”. However, he had a solid 2017 campaign, catching five touchdown passes. Burton spent his first two years in limited action.
With his limited production, and the Eagles having Brent Celek and Zach Ertz, it is possible for the Broncos to obtain Trey Burton. Not to mention he will not break the bank. My thought is that he could cost south of three-to-four million overall. Not a bad cost for a tight end that has some potential in the league.

Teaming Trey Burton with Jake Butt could be an intriguing combination. For a team that has lacked in tight end production, this would be a smart move for both Trey Burton and the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos offense is not far off from becoming contenders again. Adding Trey Burton could help propel this offense to new heights.
