The Denver Broncos requested Baker Mayfield be on their roster at the 2018 Senior Bowl, and he talks about that and more on day one…

The Denver Broncos are getting an up-close look at a lot of prospects in the 2018 Senior Bowl, but all eyes so far have been on Oklahoma’s Heisman winning quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Mayfield arrived at practice on Tuesday and was greeted by seemingly everyone as he walked onto the field, and Broncos coaches were thrilled to get a chance to meet him.

Take a look:

Mayfield also talked after practice about being asked to be on the roster that was coached by the Broncos. Apparently, Mayfield had a say in it as well…

After day one of practice, Mayfield told reporters that when the Broncos asked him to be on their roster for the Senior Bowl, it was an easy decision.

“If John Elway asks you to be on his team, you don’t say no,” Mayfield said.

That’s a pretty encouraging statement to read if you’re a Broncos fan that wants Mayfield to be the next quarterback to lead this franchise. Mayfield understands the magnitude of this moment and he has certainly risen to the occasion.

With John Elway watching from the sideline and observing some drills on the field throughout the North practice, Mayfield showed well in drills even though he was not perfect on every throw.

Since my evaluation on Mayfield as a player is virtually complete, I was more interested in the fact that he was out there taking reps on air in between his actual reps so that he could get down the movements and get some more work in. There was no wasted time for him when he was out on the field, and as I mentioned on Tuesday, he went 100 percent on every rep he was given.

This guy is just a great competitor all-around, and it’s awesome to see him getting to work with the Broncos’ coaching staff.
