2018 Senior Bowl: Day two of the Senior Bowl was less about ‘just’ quarterbacks. Offensive guard Will Hernandez stole the show…

The focus is mostly on the quarterback position for the 2018 Senior Bowl, but this is one of the most talented rosters offensively we have seen at the game and there are plenty of players worth monitoring.

One player in particular is UTEP offensive guard Will Hernandez, who has been absolutely dominant through the first two days of practice.

It doesn’t matter who’s going up against Hernandez in one-on-one situations. Hernandez is going to win.

There are countless examples of what you’ve seen above, and some even more impressive. In the All-22 viewing rooms, a scout was going through a running play the North team ran, a play that was designed misdirection and it started off with Hernandez at left guard, double teaming the nose tackle with the center.

After getting his hands on the nose tackle, Hernandez alertly kicked out to the middle linebacker who would have closed the running lane quickly, but Hernandez’s timing was perfect, and he sealed the running lane to turn a two yard gain into an eight yard gain.

Those types of plays are why this guy is going to be looked at not just on day two, but some teams will probably consider drafting him in the first round. It’s not unprecedented to see ‘guard only’ types of players get drafted in the first round anymore.

Hernandez has played left guard his whole collegiate career. His connection to the Denver Broncos is strong, as his former head coach at UTEP Sean Kugler is now the Broncos guards/centers coach.

If he lasts into round two, I would fully expect the Broncos to be interested.

After what he’s shown at the Senior Bowl, I think his tape will only confirm that he’s an NFL-ready starter right now. This guy is an impenetrable force, and is both smart and athletic. He’s going to be really good really quickly.
