Third Round (pick 2/2): Tegray Scales, LB, Indiana

The Broncos are losing most of their inside linebacker position to free agency this offseason. Todd Davis is likely to get a larger deal than the Broncos will pay, and though Corey Nelson could be brought back on a short-term contract, I expect the Broncos to pursue a starting linebacker within the first three rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Tegray Scales is a player I’ve mentioned before here on Predominantly Orange, but not in some time.

He is a playmaker at the linebacker position who can live around the line of scrimmage if he needs to, or he can blitz and make plays as a pass rusher, or he can excel in coverage. As a linebacker, he finished his career at Indiana with a whopping eight interceptions, atypical of players at his position.

I think Scales is going to test really well in the pre-draft process as well, and wouldn’t be surprised to see him making waves in his first year in the NFL regardless of where he winds up.
