Denver Broncos mock draft: Taking a look at another scenario today, where Pro Football Focus has Josh Rosen falling to number five overall…

We’ve seen Denver Broncos mock drafts with Baker Mayfield slotted into the fifth overall pick, and in recent days, we’ve also seen mock drafts with Sam Darnold and Josh Allen coming to the Mile High City.

One name we don’t hear much in connection to the Broncos is UCLA’s Josh Rosen, who is probably the most pro-ready quarterback in this year’s class.

The main reason we don’t hear much about Rosen with the Broncos is because, in all likelihood, he will be long gone by the time Denver is on the clock. But, Pro Football Focus has a different take, and recently projected the Broncos to land Rosen without having to move up.

I don’t entirely agree with PFF’s analysis that Rosen has ‘boom or bust’ to his ‘game’. I think the boom or bust with Rosen comes with his off-field personality. I would think Rosen would sooner be a distraction off the field or perhaps rub some teammates wrong with his personality.

I don’t know him personally, but based on what other people have said of him, that would seem more likely to me than him flaming out on the field.

This kid can do it all from the quarterback position. He throws with great anticipation, has excellent mechanics, and while he does make some bad decisions with the ball, I think he has some of the biggest upside in this class and I would consider him to be the most NFL-ready of all the signal callers in this talented class.

We’ll dive into the possibility of the Broncos and Rosen more as the offseason progresses, but the interview process will certainly be critical for him. The Broncos are getting an up close look at both Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen for a week at the Senior Bowl, a luxury they do not have with any of Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, or Lamar Jackson, the draft’s other top quarterbacks.

If the Broncos were to take Rosen — or any quarterback, for that matter — in round one, I would fully expect the second round pick to be an offensive lineman.
