Examining the needs for the Denver Broncos heading into the 2018 NFL Draft and free agency. What needs upgrading this offseason?

The Denver Broncos may have finished 2017 with a 5-11 record, but this team is not too far off from contending again in January.

This is a roster that was built for a run from 2012-2016, but lost its quarterback (Peyton Manning, at that) after the 2015 season and was forced into an early rebuild.

Even though the Broncos’ roster looks significantly different now than it did in that 2015 championship season, it’s a roster that has excellent depth defensively and some building blocks offensively.

Though John Elway hasn’t been an overwhelming success in the NFL Draft on the offensive side of the ball, he’s got a chance to right a number of wrongs this offseason thanks to some of the most valuable draft capital in the league, as well as a good amount of cap space and flexibility under the cap.

When dissecting the Broncos’ top roster needs and looking at this year’s crop of players coming in via the NFL Draft, I couldn’t help but get excited as each of the Broncos’ top three or four needs, maybe even five, represents the four or five deepest position groups in this year’s draft class.

It’s the perfect year to reload, rebuild, or whatever the Broncos are calling it this time around.

Let’s take a look at this team’s top five roster needs heading into the 2018 offseason…
