Second Round: Brian O’Neill, OT, Pittsburgh

Following up the risky first round pick of Josh Allen, the Broncos take a flier here on a former tight end that made a successful transition to tackle in Brian O’Neill.

Again, this is a pick that I wouldn’t mind later on in the draft, but because of O’Neill’s athleticism, I could see him getting drafted much higher than he probably should in terms of his refinement as an NFL prospect.

The Broncos need a tackle that can step in right away and start, and O’Neill is a player that will come in and experience some growing pains. He needs to add some bulk yet, and while the athletic ability is ridiculous, there’s no doubt that at the top of the second round, this would be a bit of a risky selection.

In a draft loaded at the tackle position, there are ‘safer’ options the Broncos could go with if they take a quarterback in round one, and a tackle in round two.
