Denver Broncos mock draft: The scary, risky scenario
First Round: Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming
The scariest possible scenario this offseason for the Denver Broncos is taking Josh Allen with their top selection.
The Broncos have fallen in love with the Allen types in years past, but this is a different scenario completely because unlike Paxton Lynch and Brock Osweiler before him, Allen had horrendous production his last year in college.
Allen is the prototypical ‘tools’ player, the guy who has the biggest arm in the draft with athletic ability to make incredible plays on the move as well as create with his feet, but he has problems with inaccuracy, bad decision-making, and only flashes his big time ability against lesser competition.
I don’t hate Josh Allen to the point that I don’t think he will ever amount to anything, but in a quarterback draft as strong as this one, I view Allen as the biggest project among the guys ranked near the top.
If the Broncos take him in the top five, my expectation would be that he would start immediately. I don’t think he’s ready for that at all.
This, to me, would be the riskiest and scariest possible pick the Broncos could make.
