5. Doesn’t prevent you from drafting a QB

Finally, the option of signing Tyrod Taylor doesn’t prevent you from drafting a quarterback early.

For the reasons outlined in the previous slide, the Broncos may want Taylor as the ‘bridge’ option to their next quarterback. Taylor can come in, hold down the fort, provide solid play for a year or two, and set the table for the quarterback of the future in Denver.

This would allow the Broncos to adequately reload the roster while putting together a competitive group in 2018.

Denver would be able to be flexible in the draft if Taylor was acquired, because they wouldn’t be forced to go quarterback at number five overall. They could try and get someone like Saquon Barkley, or move around and get another lineman or two, and still take a quarterback like Lamar Jackson in the later portion of round one or early in round two.

The Broncos could also just draft their guy at five overall, and have a concrete plan of how they are moving forward.

Getting Taylor gives you a number of different options for this season, but a clear plan for the future as well.

If Denver prefers the cheaper route, this is the way to go.
