Denver Broncos: 2018 Free Agent Options at Quarterback
By Tylor Walden
Veteran Options
Brock Osweiler
2017 Team: Denver Broncos
If the Denver Broncos were to look to the draft, Osweiler could be a serviceable veteran to the team in 2018. He could get the veteran minimum once again this season. With all the money he got from Houston and Cleveland, I don’t think he would complain. It could come down to who sticks around between him and Trevor Siemian. Since Siemian would cost less and is still under contract, I think Osweiler might be looking for a job elsewhere.
Chase Daniel
2017 Team: New Orleans Saints
For a guy that has already been with four teams, you would think he would have found the field at a more consistent basis. That is not the case as he has been in the league for nine years and has found himself in four cities. Daniel would be an option for the Broncos if the Saints don’t resign him and the Broncos are comfortable with who they have at quarterback.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
2017 Team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It was not that long ago that Ryan Fitzpatrick was linked to the Denver Broncos after Peyton Manning’s retirement. However, Fitzpatrick would ask for too much money and ended up staying in New York. He is a solid journeyman veteran who could be of service if Denver needed to groom a quarterback for a year or two. Fitzpatrick could be the low cost, backup veteran that might make the most sense, but I still can’t see it happening.
Drew Stanton
2017 Team: Arizona Cardinals
As a backup, Stanton may not be the worst option out there. Denver saw him a bit in 2014 when the Cardinals and Broncos last faced each other. But the chances of the Broncos getting Stanton are low. With Carson Palmer announcing his retirement, Arizona might re-sign him and draft a quarterback to get ready while Stanton takes over.
