Darian Stewart, Safety

Darian Stewart had a roller coaster season for the Broncos this year. Stewart was a strong force when it came to stopping the run, but struggled in passing situations on the other hand.

In particular, Stewart struggled in one on one pass coverage and gave up several touchdowns this season over the top. Despite the struggles in coverage, Stewart’s sideline to sideline pursuit of the ball in run situations was relentless.

He accounted for 52 tackles, 5 passes defended, and 3 interceptions on the season. As a result of his age, the Broncos found a formula in rotating Will Parks and Jamal Carter to help keep Stewart fresh.

His production was solid for the Broncos defense to remain competitive, additionally his presence on the field was important from a leadership standpoint.

In 2018 he will take on the task of continuing to anchor the middle of the field, but also mentor Will Parks, Jamal Carter, and Dymonte Thomas as candidates to take over for him when he hangs it up.
