Five reasons to believe Kirk Cousins will be a Denver Bronco
2. They have the roster and draft capital to properly surround him
Contrary to popular belief in certain sects of Broncos Country, this team is not much more than a quarterback away from competing again.
Look at the San Francisco 49ers, running the table at the end of the season with a bunch of players playing wide receiver you’ve probably never heard of.
The difference?
Jimmy Garoppolo.
Cousins brings that type of veteran leadership, presence, and poise to the huddle and to the locker room. And this is a locker room full of talent for the Broncos.
Even the most cynical won’t be able to convince me that Denver’s roster, when healthy, isn’t good enough to make the playoffs. Denver’s crew in 2016 was less talented in my opinion than the 2017 group, and that 2016 crew won nine games.
The Broncos have a roster that is playoff ready if a quarterback is brought into the fold that can help them win games.
Not only that, the Broncos are armed with some of the best draft capital in the league. If Denver were to sign Kirk Cousins, they would undoubtedly have to do better hitting on draft picks, and with a top five pick this year, they have more than enough ammunition to quickly rebuild this roster with a QB in place.
