1. They have the cap, and they have the need

The Denver Broncos will be armed this offseason with plenty of cap space to do whatever they really want to do on the free agent market.

Couple that with the fact that they have a need at the quarterback position, and they fit my top two criteria for signing Cousins.

You’ve gotta have the cash, and you’ve gotta have a vacancy at QB.

There are only a few teams in the NFL that currently fit that description, but there will definitely soon be many more.

The Broncos right now may be joined by the Jaguars, Bills, Browns, Cardinals, and Cousins’ current team the Redskins in their pursuit of the free agent quarterback.

If it comes to a bidding war, I don’t know how much the Broncos will budge off of whatever initial offer they make. We know they will be in pursuit, but will they be willing to make Cousins the highest paid NFL player potentially ever?

That’s the biggest question right now.
