De’Angelo Henderson, RB

I’d be lying if I told you I expected De’Angelo Henderson to ride the pine all season long.

The Broncos experienced a rare season of health at the running back position, getting Devontae Booker back from injury early in the year and never looking back.

C.J. Anderson, Booker, and Jamaal Charles were not out for any significant amount of time this year, at least not following Booker’s original wrist injury.

Henderson, as a result, didn’t hardly play at all. He was sort of the ’emergency’ option at running back all year, but he shouldn’t have been. I think even as a sixth round pick, Henderson may have the most well-rounded skill set of any player the Broncos have at his position.

He’s got plenty of bulk for his height, power, vision, balance, and speed, and he can catch passes and play special teams.

What’s not to like?

For 2018, the Broncos need to significantly expand this guy’s role and make him a key piece of their offense. He proved in the last game of the season against the Chiefs that his preseason performances were no fluke. He’s got game.
