Isaiah McKenzie, WR

Fans were taken on a ride with McKenzie this past year, with the promise that he would solidify the punt returner position that has long been an area of weakness.

Former special teams coordinator Brock Olivo called him one of the best punt ‘catchers’ in the entire incoming class.

McKenzie didn’t seem to be struggling really at all until the regular season came around, and one fumble seemed to lead to another.

There were many calling for McKenzie to be cut after seven regular season fumbles, and his being benched in favor of Jordan Taylor.

This guy has plenty of speed, quickness, and playmaking ability, but he definitely has a lot to work on.

For 2018, McKenzie is likely going to be given every opportunity to win the punt return job, but he will be on a much shorter leash this time around. He is a special talent athletically, but that doesn’t matter if you can’t catch the ball or hold on to it.

I’m hoping for a big bounce back from McKenzie in year two.
