Garett Bolles, OT

It might sound like a cliché but it was really an up-and-down season for Garett Bolles in year one.

And anyone who expected differently was lying to themselves.

Bolles was never going to be in the running for offensive rookie of the year, but I think he proved unquestionably that he can be a tackle in this league for years to come.

Despite struggling at times with penalties and the occasional errors in pass protection, Bolles was excellent all season as a run blocker, and showed off his athleticism as a pass protector. The biggest area Bolles needs to improve in is the area he most needed to improve in coming into the league, and that’s adding some size and strength to his frame without losing that crazy athleticism that blew everyone away at the Combine.

Bolles is a very talented player, who is still learning the in’s and out’s of the tackle position. He does a good job of mirroring pass rushers but will occasionally lunge and get beat by counter moves.

For the most part, I felt like Bolles held up well but he allowed far too many pressures and hits this season, and he knows that. As he continues to clean up his technique in pass protection, I think he’s going to develop into one of the better tackles in the league.
