The Rest (of the UFAs)

Jared Crick, DE

The Broncos could very well keep Jared Crick around for another couple of years. He’s going to be inexpensive coming off of a season-ending injury, and he was looking much improved prior to that injury having added some weight and strength at the point of attack.

Crick was a starter for the Broncos all of 2016, and with Derek Wolfe’s health also a question mark, this could be a valuable veteran player to have around as insurance. I would re-sign him, but I think the chances of that happening are about 50-50 at this point.

Billy Winn, DE

Winn is sort of in the same boat as Crick. He is 28 going on 29 this April, so he may have a few good years left in him. He also showed some versatility for the Broncos, emerging as their no. 2 nose tackle prior to his injury.

Like Crick, Winn is a veteran guy that could be had for a low price. I would consider bringing him back if the price is right.

Billy Turner, OL

Whether the Broncos tried him at guard or tackle, he just wasn’t good enough. I don’t think he will be back next year for them.

Allen Barbre, OL

See: Billy Turner.

Corey Nelson, LB/ST

Nelson was a valuable backup and special teams player for the Broncos, but I don’t think they have enough confidence in him to bring him back as a full-time starter at linebacker. He may sign in Denver or somewhere else on the cheap, but I think his role in the NFL is pretty clearly defined, and he will continue to excel at it.
