Cody Latimer, WR (UFA)

The Denver Broncos picked Cody Latimer in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, and despite having been in the league for four years already, he just turned 25 in October of last year.

The Broncos saw significant improvements from Latimer over the course of the past two seasons, first on special teams, and this year on offense. His stats aren’t gaudy by any means (19 catches, 287 yards, 2 TDs) but it was how Latimer was making these plays that stood out.

He showed he can be a big time threat on 50-50 balls, and make big plays downfield. He showed he can do some things after the catch, and make tough, contested grabs.

Latimer’s sample size is small, but it was enough that the Broncos have to be considering bringing him back, and possibly in an expanded role.

Latimer right now would be slated as the team’s unquestioned no. 3 receiver going into next season, but depending on what happens with the contract of Emmanuel Sanders and/or Demaryius Thomas, that role could increase.

Latimer’s youth and big play ability should be enough that the Broncos try their darndest to bring him back. He’s worth another look on a second contract at a reasonable price.
