ARLINGTON, TX – DECEMBER 29: Sam Darnold /

45. Sam Darnold has the best upside of all the quarterbacks in this year’s draft class. Darnold has a cerberal mind and strong, accurate arm. He encountered a shaky season in 2017, but finished with promise. Darnold’s performance in 2016 had scouts buzzing. The 2016 season provided intangibles, nine game-winning drives and the knack to play in big games. His game versus the Buckeyes was an anomaly. The amount of playmakers around Darnold with the Broncos makes this a perfect situation for him, Bill Musgrave and the franchise.. Quarterback. Trojans. Sam Darnold. 5. player

Baker Mayfield could easily be the choice for the Broncos given the team is coaching him in the Senior Bowl. Yet, a potential trade shook up the NFL Draft between the Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs.

The Browns selected Josh Allen after the trade. Mayfield is another likely choice given the swagger and chip on the shoulder mentality like the Broncos defense. Furthermore, the Broncos will have interest in all three of the top three quarterbacks.

However, Josh Rosen appears likely headed to the New York Giants. Moreover, this leaves an opening for the Broncos to choose Darnold or Mayfield. There is no wrong answer here.
