Denver Broncos: Scouting 2018 NFL Draft in CFP title game
It’s impossible to watch Alabama’s defense and not covet every single player on it.
The Broncos, interestingly enough, have only had one Nick Saban-coached Alabama player in the John Elway era.
That player is right tackle Cyrus Kouandjio, who was excellent in the season finale against Kansas City.

Denver has tried to get other Alabama players, but has passed on many, many others in Elway’s tenure as general manager. That all started back in 2011 when Elway passed on Marcell Dareus for Von Miller with the second overall pick.
This year, with the 5th overall pick, depending on what happens in free agency, a number of Alabama defenders could make sense for the Broncos in the first or second round.
Not the least of which is Minkah Fitzpatrick, whom Nick Saban recently declared is the best defensive back he’s ever coached.
The Broncos could lose Aqib Talib this offseason, so perhaps a playmaker on the back end like Fitzpatrick will make sense in round one if Denver is able to sign a quarterback in free agency.
He would certainly be worth that top five pick.
There’s also playmakers like Anthony Averett (CB, Alabama), Ronnie Harrison (S, Alabama), Da’Ron Payne (DL, Alabama), and Da’Shawn Hand (DL, Alabama) worthy of keeping a close eye on.
