3rd round (Pick 2/2): Royce Freeman, RB, Oregon

With C.J. Anderson’s future in Denver somewhat up in the air, I think Denver is bound to take a running back with one of their top three or four picks.

This pick comes from the loss of Russell Okung in free agency last year, and I think if someone’s going to take over for Anderson as the team’s lead back eventually, if it’s not going to be Devontae Booker or De’Angelo Henderson, it could very well be freeman.

This guy has been a model of consistency at Oregon, showing excellent vision, power, balance, and breakaway speed when he needs it.

Freeman has the ability to grind out tough yardage as well as make big plays in the passing game.

One thing I love about his game is that he’s just so slippery between the tackles. He has elite strength in his lower body, and runs with such great pad level all the time it’s tough to take him down on first contact.

With Kirk Cousins already in the fold, the Broncos would be getting a guy here that could grind the clock down at the end of games and make teams miserable.
