3rd round (Pick 1/2): Josey Jewell, LB, Iowa
I’m going to continue to hammer this pick home until someone in Denver makes it.
Josey Jewell is my favorite off-ball linebacker in the draft, even considering how good Roquan Smith is.
I don’t think you’re going to get a better bang for your buck at the linebacker position, and with Denver set to potentially lose both Todd Davis and Corey Nelson to unrestricted free agency, this is a pick that makes sense.
Jewell is a tackling machine with great field vision and anticipation. He’s got hard-hitting ability and is fantastic in coverage. He can be used on third down as a blitzer, and consistently makes plays behind the line of scrimmage in run defense.
This guy is going to be a stud wherever he’s drafted, so I’m hoping Denver is wise enough to see that.
