Deiontrez Mount, Outside Linebacker

With the Broncos moving DeMarcus Walker back to the defensive line (where he belongs), they got to see more of Deiontrez Mount at the outside linebacker position.

Mount was signed to the Broncos’ roster at the very end of the preseason, an indicator they wanted to add him to the practice squad right at the start of 2017. That’s exactly what they ended up doing, and as Mount continued to develop and get healthy, the Broncos liked what they saw more and more.

A former sixth round pick out of Louisville, Mount is a guy that has good speed off the edge and provides an ability to set the edge with his strength as well. He showed a little bit of everything he’s capable of doing in this game against the Chiefs, setting the edge in the running game and putting some pressure on Chiefs quarterbacks.

It was an impressive output by Mount, who was credited with four stops in the run game (a team high) as well as two quarterback hurries, which included one hit. He finished the game with five tackles, and I think proved more than capable of playing some spot duty at the OLB position going forward.
