3rd Round (pick 2/2): T.J. Edwards, LB, Wisconsin
Keeping it in the Big Ten, the Broncos finally address the defensive side of the football here in the third round, and I think T.J. Edwards would be an absolute gem.
Edwards, in addition to being a sure tackler at the linebacker position, has been one of the best coverage linebackers in the country by Pro Football Focus’ metrics, allowing a QB rating of just 40.3 when he drops into coverage.
Edwards has also done a great job of making plays on the football when in coverage, picking off four passes this season.
The Broncos will have to make some moves at the ILB position this offseason with Todd Davis set for unrestricted free agency, along with Corey Nelson. Denver has a number of UDFA players that have been taking snaps at inside linebacker, so there is a clear opportunity to upgrade there.
This draft, thankfully, is replete with off-ball linebacker talent, and Edwards would be an excellent value late on day two.
