2nd Round: Martinas Rankin, OT, Mississippi State

Again if you have read any of my mock drafts this season, you have undoubtedly seen Martinas Rankin on the list.

Rankin is a player that has been very good at left tackle for a couple of seasons for Mississippi State, but isn’t getting the type of first round hype I think he deserves.

Even as high as the Broncos will be picking in the second round, I have a hard time believing Rankin will be available with this pick. Miller’s big board had him ranked somewhere around the 70th best player.

For the Broncos, I would love Rankin for a couple of reasons.

First of all, he fits the bill of what the Broncos want in terms of both athleticism and a nasty streak at the tackle position.

Second of all, I think he would sort of complete what would be the ideal Broncos’ offensive line, and for the purposes of keeping some continuity, I’m going to keep Garett Bolles at the left tackle position. But this group looks pretty darn good:

LT: Garett Bolles
LG: Ron Leary
C: Matt Paradis
RG: Connor McGovern
RT: Martinas Rankin

That is a starting five that could help get the Broncos to the next level offensively, and has a great combination of youth and veteran leadership.
