What if the Denver Broncos sign Kirk Cousins? We have put together a mock draft scenario (four rounds) if that becomes a reality…

If the Denver Broncos are able to sign Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins this offseason, how does that impact the rest of the roster? How does it impact their plans for the 2018 NFL Draft?

Well, the answer is simply this — significantly.

Cousins signing in Denver would change the entire course of action for the 2018 NFL Draft, and that got me thinking through some scenarios. Would the Broncos then try to trade up, or because of the amount of cash Cousins takes up on the salary cap, would they keep as many selections as possible?

Furthermore, who would the Broncos have to cut to make the signing of Cousins work?

The roster turnover for this kind of move could be significant, and there are plenty of other questions to consider, but the Broncos may be willing to be aggressive and go after a player like Cousins (who is a top 10 quarterback in any statistical category, and by all accounts, a great leader) if they feel like he can be the difference quickly between this team being a bottom-feeder in the AFC West and a title contender.

For the purposes of this exercise, I used Fanspeak’s On the Clock mock draft simulator, with Matt Miller’s (Bleacher Report) most updated Big Board.
