Isaiah McKenzie: The Spark Plug Needs Time

The return game has been dreadful, let’s be honest.

However, Isaiah McKenzie deserves a chance at redemption. McKenzie is a lightning bolt with the ball in his hands. Everything this year is about making the big play. Unfortunately, McKenzie’s big play is a turnover to the other team.

In my opinion, there is a lot of faith in McKenzie to turn it around. Call it faith or belief in McKenzie, but there is still a spark in this young player. It is up to the Broncos to allow him that chance again.

If the Broncos showed the amount of patience in their draft pick Latimer, then they must show same faith to McKenzie. Special teams was bad last season with Jordan Norwood and it was wrong to think it would change over night. However, to eliminate McKenzie from the equation will set the team back to no punch in that area.

During his time in college, McKenzie never fumbled. It simply to me is a player looking to do too much. All McKenzie must do is make it a point of emphasis to catch the ball first then turn into lightning.

With the Georgia Bulldogs, McKenzie ran five punt returns and one kickoff for touchdowns. This totals six in his collegiate career. It is only a matter of time. It just requires patience.

Jordan Taylor is serviceable and what the Broncos needed during this season, but the Broncos must give McKenzie the opportunity to earn it back in Training Camp next year. This allows McKenzie to fight like a dog to get there. You just hope it happens next year.
