The Denver Broncos shockingly shut out the New York Jets to snap their embarrassing eight-game losing streak, winning their fourth game this season…

The Denver Broncos may be eliminated from playoff contention, but darn it if they don’t look like a playoff team against the New York Jets.

The Broncos, as a matter of fact, not only snapped their eight-game losing streak, but they shut out the Jets in the process. It was their first shutout since 2005 at home against — you guessed it — the Jets.

This wasn’t an overwhelming performance by any individual Broncos player, but finally a team win like we’ve been longing to see. The Broncos have a short week this week against the Indianapolis Colts, so they’ll have to turn it around really quick.

Here are my observations about the big victory by Denver:

1. Vintage Demaryius Thomas

The Broncos saw a vintage performance from Demaryius Thomas, who dropped a couple of passes, sure, but also caught eight balls for 93 yards and a touchdown.

Thomas was making plays deep downfield, over the middle, at the sideline, in the red zone, and on third down. It was exciting to see Thomas play well again, even if the ball was being forced to him a little bit.

It was the clearest indicator to date that Thomas has not ‘lost it’ like many in Broncos Country feel he has. Thomas is still a very good player and can be an asset to this team going forward.

Thomas passed Shannon Sharpe for number two on the Broncos’ all-time list for receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He’s Ring of Fame bound, someday.

2. Von Miller makes history

Von Miller notched his 10th sack of the season, which is incredibly impressive given how often the Broncos have been playing from behind. It was his sixth season with 10 or more sacks, and the lone season where Miller didn’t have 10 sacks, he was suspended and also tore his ACL.

Miller’s sack on Josh McCown was number 83.5 for his NFL career in 101 games.

3. Defense dominates

There’s no denying the pride of this Denver defense, and despite a ton of injuries on that side of the ball, these guys came to play.

Let’s not forget — the Jets just got done dismantling the defense of the Kansas City Chiefs, the team atop the AFC West right now. They put up 38 points a week ago, and zero this week.

The Denver defense was stellar, with great games by Brandon Marshall, Chris Harris Jr., Von Miller, Shelby Harris, and Adam Gotsis among others.

It was truly a group effort, and we’ll dive into some of the film this week.
