In a season filled no glee at the quarterback position, the Denver Broncos turn again to Trevor Siemian as starting quarterback…

To begin the season for the Denver Broncos, Trevor Siemian was named starter. Through the early part of the season the Broncos were riding high with Siemian as a starting quarterback. Siemian won a game against the Dallas Cowboys with his arm planting ideas he had a future in the NFL.

Those thoughts quickly vanished when the Broncos played the New York Giants. Siemian struggled mightily, rehashing old habits from last season. At times, Siemian would stare down a receiver and throw it his direction. This in turn resulted in turnovers and almost always holding the ball too long.

The two other quarterbacks on the Broncos roster are nothing to write home about, either.

Brock Osweiler played decent in his first start, but regressed in his follow-up performances.

Former first round pick Paxton Lynch got his first start against the Oakland Raiders. To say he was flustered in that game would be an understatement.

Due to an ankle injury, Lynch’s evaluation is incomplete heading into the offseason again.

Siemian reclaimed the reins, but his play appears to be much of the same. Vance Joseph named Siemian starter in hopes of bringing back the confidence in Siemian, who needs it.

Siemian’s 30.5 rating in the Broncos’ loss to the Miami Dolphins was the worst of his 2017 season, and was one of the worst quarterback performances you will see league-wide.

If Siemian finds a way to play well the rest of the way, he will prove to be a reliable backup or borderline competent starter in the NFL. All it takes is one win to get the ball rolling with confidence for Broncos.

He’s got another chance against the New York Jets.
