Adam Gase is apparently one of the league’s biggest whiners. It’s no wonder he didn’t get the head coaching job in Denver…
In case you hadn’t already known — Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase is one of the biggest whiners in the NFL. He is also not opposed to holding a two-year grudge, which is why we saw some less-than-sportsmanlike antics in the Dolphins’ 35-9 win over the Denver Broncos.
Apparently, Gase doesn’t like John Elway because of the fact that he wasn’t hired by Denver in 2015, and Elway played a role in that.
Too bad.
Gase pulled off some pretty annoying stunts in this game against the Broncos, including the onside kick with the game already well in hand, bringing in the backup quarterback at the end of the game, and throwing the ball deep with the backup in the game.
As far as coaching and game management strategy goes, Gase is certainly entitled to do all of those things within the confines of an NFL game. But against a team that employs a good friend of his — Vance Joseph — as their head coach, it seems a little bush league.
The fact that Gase had some actual motives behind his actions is what makes it really annoying. The Broncos are not good. The Dolphins are not good. Gase could just as easily be fired this year as could Vance Joseph, and the Broncos won the Super Bowl his first year in Miami.
So is Gase mad at John Elway for taking him away from that opportunity when he stuck with the Broncos despite head coaching offers the year prior?

Elway saw an opportunity to get Gary Kubiak as a head coach in 2015, and there were really no other options legitimately considered. Kubiak was the right hire at the right time for the Broncos, but it’s possible that Gase was given a verbal promise of the head coaching job if John Fox were fired, which is what happened.
But when Fox was fired, Gase was interviewed and not brought back as the head coach, which is apparently why he’s still mad today.
C’mon, man.
This is the NFL. Gase was a hot head coaching candidate and honestly landed in a fine situation. The Broncos stuck with him when they made a complete overhaul of their front office and coaching staff, and rightly so. He’s a very good offensive coach.
That being said, he’s not the greatest coach in the universe and wasn’t someone the Broncos had to bring back at all costs back in 2015 when their relationship ended.
It’s too bad he felt the need to ‘stick it’ to the Broncos in a meaningless game that no one is going to remember in six months.
The Broncos have a Super Bowl title in the time since Gase left, which is the ultimate trump card over any sort of petty regular season win.
