Isaiah McKenzie, WR

Yes, I know that Isaiah McKenzie has had problems with muffed punts this year.

I’m not trying to shrug that off as not a big deal, but McKenzie is one of the top playmakers on the Broncos’ roster, and it would be fun to see him get more than just a small handful of snaps on offense this year, and not on gimmick plays either.

The Broncos have a guy here with fantastic speed and quickness, and they very clearly lack a true number three option in the passing game. Perhaps we should worry more about getting the top two receivers involved consistently before worrying about number three, but if the passing game improves under the watch of Bill Musgrave, it would be nice to see the Broncos give McKenzie a shot.

He proved at Georgia that he is not only a very good return specialist (when he holds onto the ball) but he’s also a very good wide receiver and playmaker after the catch.

We also saw a little bit in the preseason that McKenzie is capable of making plays deep downfield. The Broncos certainly haven’t given up on their fifth round pick, but he’s in the doghouse at least for now. We’ll see how quickly he can work his way out.
