Denver Broncos practice was about as odd as ever on Wednesday, and now Paxton Lynch could play Sunday if needed, per Vance Joseph…

Does anyone have any bright ideas as to what is going on with the Denver Broncos? Specifically, what’s going on with the quarterback position?

Just two days ago, Broncos head coach Vance Joseph told us that there was ‘no timetable’ for the return of Paxton Lynch to the practice field.

It was simultaneously announced that Brock Osweiler would be the team’s starting quarterback week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Then, Broncos GM John Elway said that the quarterback position — which he has constructed — is ‘not settled’, but that the team still believes in Paxton Lynch. Elway also reminded us that Trevor (Siemian) started at the quarterback position, that Brock (Osweiler) is ‘in there now’, and that Paxton Lynch would play ‘if there’s an opportunity to play.’

It was a really interesting series of events, which caused me to write this 2,000 word post on what might happen at the quarterback position going forward, in case you have an hour to spare.

All kidding aside, the Broncos have actually gone — in two days — from telling us that there’s no timetable for Lynch’s return, to actually promoting Lynch to the backup quarterback and telling us that he could play on Sunday if needed.

When asked that specific question of whether or not Lynch could play if needed, Vance Joseph said, “I would say yes.”

You really can’t make this stuff up!

Not only did Joseph state this after practice, but there was also a great mystery about an injury to Brock Osweiler that wasn’t mentioned prior to Wednesday. Here’s a look at the play-by-play of that:

We’ve got a few things there that made me chuckle. The first is the obvious declaration of a chest injury, followed by Vance Joseph’s ‘official’ report of a shoulder injury. The second thing that really made me chuckle here — when you notice it — is the mention of Joseph Osweiler.

Who is this character? We may never know…

Again, all kidding aside, this whole situation has almost become a comedy of errors by the Broncos at this point. I don’t know who is covering up what, if anything is being covered up at all. No one seems to have their story straight at this point in time, but all of that said, there’s a chance we could see Paxton Lynch play this weekend.

Because, by the way, there’s a game to be played.
